I was given the honor to participate in a webinar with Jim Storer of The Community Roundtable (CRT) and Kelly Stocker of Khoros to discuss CRT’s annual State of Community Management Report (SOCM). Speaking with other community professionals outside of your own company is a rare occurrence, so it was fun to riff on where the community category is and where it’s going!
We got to cover a broad array of topics and findings from the 73-page report. If you haven’t gotten a chance to carve out time to pour into the report itself, watching this hour-long video recap is a good “Cliff Notes” version to get up to speed.
I’ve already written about the newly added emphasis of “Best in Class” research that CRT has compiled and included in this report. If I were to pull out a few more highlights that are noteworthy, our discussion around AI’s impact and potential in the community space was an insightful perspective.
Also, extracting some overall themes in the report (which we refer to as “hard truths” in the webinar), was a useful exercise in being able to step back from the trees and see the forest.
As community leaders who are running the day-to-day operations of a community, it’s not always easy to carve out the time to spend time on the macro community environment. But doing so could perhaps give you clarity on your own community strategy. Consider this a nudge and an invitation to do so.
